CYBERCRIME/ CONSPIRACY THEORIES ORAL PRESENTATION.

As part of the activities proposed for this term, this oral presentations will take place in two stages so one part of each course will present it first and the other, later in the term.

The following is the guide to develop the process to prepare the task.

GUIDE TO THE PRESENTATION

This document contains the outlines for planning and executing the oral presentation on CYBERCRIME/CONSPITACY THEORIES, corresponding to the REVA activity number 3 of this term.

  1. GROUPS ASSIGNMENT: This will be held in class by picking a TOPIC from a bag to form groups of 2 students. It is poddible to trade topics.

  2. TOPICS ASSIGNMENT: The same RANDOMIZED process will be used to assign the topics corresponding to each group according to the NUMBER sequence:

  3. TOPIC MANAGEMENT: In this part, you will be given the ítems you might tackle in order to underpin your research process, plan and perform your 7 to 9 MINUTE oral presentation.

5. USE OF ENGLISH: In this part, you are going to find the grammar topics involved:

VERBAL TENSES.

MODAL VERBS

DESCRIPTIONS (Use of Adjectives)

SCIENTIFIC VOCABULARY

COLLOCATIONS, EXPRESSIONS, TWO-WORD NOUNS.

6. ASSESSMENT: You will find another file attached. This is the RUBRIC containing the ítems to be evaluated to each team and member with the corresponding score. This grade will correspond to the average obtained from self assessment, peer assessment and teacher’s assessment.

7. EXECUTIVE PLAN: This part refers to some sugestions about how to develop the research, the analysis, the management of the information as well as the presentation of visual and complementary aids.

8. RESEARCH PROCESS: For this process, it is advisable to look for Dictionaries and glossaries moreover the various websites under the topic assigned.

You can google the topic and specific ítem ( e.g. definition; characteristics, causes and consequences of..) to Access the information required.

Once you identify the pages with valuable information, proceed to identify and organize the most suitable and relevant for being presented to the class, this means, clear, understandable and easy to present.

9. DESIGNING VISUAL SUPPORT: Choose from the relevant surplus information, that which could be complementary to what you will say during the presentation in order to use it in slides, visuals, posters, diagrams, etc.

With this defined, proceed to design your visuals. Forget about lots of texts, these can affect the quality of your presentation. Aim for images, gifts, audios, diagrams, animations which anyway would enrich the performance and make your work catchy, understandable and why not, valuable for the class.

Use different tools from power point and please… MAKE SURE THEY ARE DISPLAYABLE. (consider we don´t have internet Access in the classrooms or audiovisuals room so, the access to mail or websites IS NOT POSSIBLE). USE DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES (PLANS) FOR PRESENTING YOUR VISUALS (CD, USB, BLUETOOTH, SHARING SCREENS, BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP AND CABLES TO GET CONNECTED, ASK FOR THE CONNECTIVITY POSSIBILITIES in order to cope with technical problems in advance, since some devices are not compatible to others.

WARNING: THE ABSENCE OR FAILURE OF VISUALS AT THE MOMENT OF THE PRESENTATION AFFECTS THE GRADE BECAUSE THEY ARE REQUISITES FOR THIS PRODUCT.

10. REHEARSAL AND PEER CORRECTION: The premise for teamwork presentations is EVERYTHING IS UP TO EVERYONE, this means there are NO EXCUSE for failing with any of the requirements for the presentation and, in the case of a participant absence, the rest of the group must be in capacity to present the activity. Of course, the absentee, must do so.

To cope with pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar problems, you should be able to help each other, otherwise, use the internet as well. There are internet and even cellphone apps able to help you with pronunciation audio tools.

Act it out as many times as posible, SPOKEN, NOT READ Is one of the ítems assessed. Don’t forget it. For sure this is an opportunity for you to cope with scenic panic and distress, as well as not the first in which you will have to speak to an audience. Take into account the script is an important part of the activity, as well as the information processing (Apply vocabulary seen)

BE ATTENTIVE TO QUESTIONS. Some of your partners can ask anything about the topic, so be preparde to answer correctly.

Bring your RUBRIC and present it at the moment of your presentation. That will allow to accurately evaluate your performance.
